Grand Tour of Switzerland
The Grand Tour of Switzerland is an approximately 1,600-kilometer tourist route through the most scenic areas of Switzerland with numerous interesting sights and attractive excursion options in the immediate vicinity along the way.
The tour also leads to the Interlaken holiday region. You'll find touristic highlights and insider tips nestling in the stunning landscape along both shores of Lake Thun.
Past castles and vineyards
One leg of the tour leads you alongside Lake Thun from Spiez to Interlaken. In Spiez, somewhat set back from the main road, is the most beautiful bay in Europe, bordered by the largest winery in the Bernese Oberland and watched over by the majestic Spiez Castle. In between sailing boats, stand-up paddlers and canoeists explore the areas along the water's edge. Always accompanied by the impressive panorama of the snow-capped giants of the Bernese Oberland.
Palms and that beach feeling on Lake Thun
On another section of the Grand Tour of Switzerland, you drive from Interlaken to Thun via Oberhofen, beside glistening, deep-blue Lake Thun, past inviting bays, cosy lake-shore cafes and stunning lidos. It's well worth leaving the car for once to delve further into this idyll. Lovers of fine food can treat themselves in one of the excellent fish restaurants and a trip up the Niederhorn or a stroll through the old town of Thun with its famous high-level pavements is highly recommended.
