Bike tour around Thun – Foothills of the Alps Tour

The foothills of the Alps tour Thun - Blueme - Thun is ideal the transitional period and on hot days. The ascent takes you mostly through a wooded area and repeatedly gives you fabulous views of the Bernese Alps, Lake Thun and further to the Mittelland and Emmental. If visibility is good you can even see a large part of the Jura mountains from the viewing tower at Blueme. Apart from a couple of short strtches on the climb up to Blueme and a few metres on the descent this route is technically easy.
Easy Bike – with great views of the mountains and lakes
Start point: Sigriswil
Distance: 16km
Suitable for: families with children of school age
Ride down to Gunten and then along the Lake via Merligen to the funicular station at Beatenbucht. Here you can take the bike with you on the enjoyable funicular trip up to Beatenberg. From Beatenberg ride on to the Grön Hut in the Justis valley enjoying the spectacular views of the lake and mountains along the way and then comes the long descent back to the starting point at Sigriswil.
Flower Tower – Bike tour with fantastic views
Starting point: Schwanden Stalden
Distance: 12 km
Suitable for: families with children of school age
Depart from Restaurant Risiko at Schwanden Stalden and then a short ride vie Zelgli to Gärstere and then sharp left to Schwanden Säge. Then comes a climb of 2.56km on the forest track to below the flower tower at 1300m. Walk the short distance to the tower and if the weather is good you can enjoy the fabulous views as far as the Mittelland and the Jura. Continue along the forest track „Blueme-Sunnsite“ to Hinterport and onto Schwendistrasse. Then left in the direction of Ringoldswil. Perhaps a short stop for refreshment in the Restaurant Krindenhof before you ride via Tüelen, Aeschlenalmmi and Margel back to the starting point at Stalden.
