Easy hike through the idyllic Justistal starting from Grön (parking lot), flanked by the impressive rocks of the Sigriswil and Güggis ridges. The nine alpine pastures Grön, Spicherberg, Büffel, Flühlauenen, Klein Mittelbergli, Rossschatten, Gross Mittelberg, Sigriswiler, and Oberhofner maintain traditional alpine farming. At the end of September, the world-famous “Chästeilet” cheese sharing takes place in Justistal. In late autumn, the red deer rut can be experienced, and in winter the Justistal is a popular cross-country skiing area.

By car from Bern via the A6 motorway to Thun Nord, then towards Gunten – Sigriswil towards Beatenberg and to the starting point parking lot Grön (approx. 35 minutes). From Interlaken towards Beatenberg, then towards Sigriswil to the starting point parking lot Grön (approx. 35 minutes).

Public transportationPublic transport from Thun to Sigriswil village with bus line 25. Hike to the Grön start parking lot: approx. 1 hr 45 min, 5.5 km. Or from Thun or Interlaken West with bus line 21 to the Merligen or Beatenbucht bus stops and then by funicular to Beatenberg. Hike to the Grön start parking lot: approx. 1 hr, 3.7 km.

Traditional cheese making over a wood fire during the summer months. Find out if you are allowed to watch the cheese making between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. There is the possibility to picnic or grill in Büffelboden (you must bring your own firewood).
