Mushrooms are a wonderful food and can be easily grown in any garden alongside fruits and vegetables with simple means. Many people appreciate them as a delicacy, and in some cultures they are even considered a remedy. They contain valuable trace elements and are extraordinarily versatile in their preparation.

In this one-day course at Schweibenalp, we would like to embark together on the adventure of mushrooms. We will explore the fascinating world of fungi and acquire basic knowledge about cultivating edible mushrooms on different substrates. We will also share useful tips on how to prepare them.

In addition to theoretical introductions, we will inoculate wood logs with mushroom mycelium and create a small mushroom garden together. There will be an opportunity to produce mushroom logs for personal use and take them home.

Ecology of fungi
History and significance of edible mushrooms
Mushroom cultivation on different substrates
Inoculation of wood logs
Creating a mushroom garden

At the end of the course, each participant will have the opportunity to take home inoculated wood and, if applicable, substrate material.
