Alpakas and llamas originally come from South America, specifically the Andes. However, these woolly animals have long delighted both young and old here in our latitudes. A particularly exciting hike for alpaca and llama fans is located near Spiez.

The hike starts leisurely from the Inforama in Hondrich and passes houses and fields, finally entering a forested area. Here you will find the first opportunity for a longer break: the Seeholz barbecue area has a large grill with grate and various seating options. The nearby stream is also perfect for children to play. Just a few meters further there are more benches that allow you to enjoy the idyll of the forest and especially the clear stream.
Four-legged friends along the path
The hiking trail then leads through Aeschi near Spiez. There are shopping and dining options for those who want to recharge. After a short climb comes the highlight of this hike: the first alpacas and llamas can already be seen from afar. They watch the passing walkers with interest in several pastures along the path. With a bit of luck, hikers may even spot a youngster. Following the trail further, you arrive directly at the llama and alpaca farm, where animal products can also be purchased. The hike is especially suitable for families with children and for people who are enthusiastic about these four-legged animals. The llamas and alpacas come in many different colors and sizes – some even come close to the fence. The rest of the way goes through forest and field paths to the bus stop Aeschiried / Schulhaus. From there, the bus takes you back to the starting point.
Family-friendly excursion
The hike is a real highlight for families with children who love animals. The start through the forest with the large fire pit right next to the stream is perfect for a snack break. The following path is hardly demanding and also manageable for smaller children. There are also always opportunities for dining or returning by bus. Alpacas and llamas are probably not represented in Switzerland in such numbers as in Aeschi near Spiez. The "wow" effect is guaranteed on this hike.
