Iffigenalp is the starting point for many beautiful hikes in the municipality of Lenk. One of them is the circular hike over the Hohberg to the nearby Iffighorn and via Iffigsee back to Iffigenalp. From the mountain house Iffigenalp, go up the Iffig valley to Alp Groppi. Keep right there and follow the mountain hiking trail along the mountainside up to the Hohberg. The Hohberg ridge, covered with birch and Swiss stone pine, fascinates in autumn with its wonderful brown and yellow tones. Its primeval landscape belongs to the nature reserve Gelten-Iffigen, which starts here. Shortly after passing the last birches and Swiss stone pines, you will encounter numerous edelweiss along the path. But be careful, the unique flowers can easily be overlooked. Here too: stay on the path and do not pick the flowers. After another 300 meters of altitude, you reach the Iffighorn. The large grassy hill offers a wonderful view over the Simmental, Saanenland, and into the Bernese and Western Swiss pre-Alps. The descent over grassy meadows is somewhat steeper than the ascent, but you are quickly down at the turquoise-colored Iffigsee. The return path through the Iffig valley to Iffigenalp is a bit rough up to Groppi and the path is covered with loose stones. Hiking poles are advantageous here.
