The classic par excellence, a brisk ascent from Schwanden via Obere Matte, Zettenalpegg to Stäpfli. Slightly downhill, keeping right, the path leads you to the upper Rothorn ridge, at the foot of the Sigriswiler Rothorn. Now begins a short ascent through challenging terrain (T3), where surefootedness is required. Over slabs you reach the summit without difficulty. After a thorough summit rest and enjoyment of the fantastic Alpine panorama with magnificent views from Säntis across all Bernese Alps to far into the Jura, the descent follows via Oberbärgli, Chäle, Bodmi back to Schwanden.
