This path offers a fabulous view and plenty of tranquility to recharge your energy. Enjoy the dreamlike panorama of Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau as well as Lake Thun.

Starting from Beatenberg station, the path leads west along the main road. After about 150 meters, the path splits. At the hairpin bend, follow the sign to Restaurant Riedboden and then uphill to Bodenalp. Early in the morning, deer or chamois may occasionally be seen from the forest edge.

Arriving at Bodenalp at 1365 meters above sea level, the wire cable of the Niederhorn cableway crosses the winter hiking trail for the third and last time at a height. Passing the alpine hut Bodenalp, you now hike on the winter trail, which is also used as a cross-country skiing track, towards the Spirenwald. The path gently undulates and clings to the slope. Now and then, the view through the newly cleared forest can be enjoyed over the village of Beatenberg up to Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau.

After about two-thirds of the route, high above the rugged “Birefluh,” the wild romantic atmosphere with the distinctive pear-shaped rock formation accompanies the hiker a bit further over the Bödeli to the outskirts of Riescherental. After crossing the Sundgraben, the path turns and opens the view over Lake Thun towards the Niesen. Now you have to descend the last altitude meters to the PostAuto stop “Waldegg.”
