The route takes you from the Wiriehorn mountain station to Tubelfärrich: An ideal route to leave everyday life far behind and fully enjoy nature.

You can easily reach the starting point of the snowshoe route, the Wiriehorn mountain station, with the 6-seater chairlift of the Wiriehorn cable car. From here the path is marked, but you create the track yourself with your snowshoes. The cool winter air and the deeply snow-covered alpine meadows and forests convey inner peace and distance from the hectic everyday life. Throughout the ascent you have a stunning view of the Wiriehorn, the Niedersimmental, the Stockhorn and the Niesen chain.

Directions

Follow the snowshoe route from the Wiriehorn mountain station (Nüegg) gently ascending towards Alp Schwarzenberg. The path leads over the ridgeline with moderate incline up to Tubelfärrich. Throughout the ascent, you have stunning views of the surrounding mountain peaks before you reach the turning point of your hike. The descent route follows along the forest edge up to the elevation of Oberi Heitere and further to the terrain saddle above the Nüegg mountain station. A short descent and the mountain station and the Berghotel Wiriehorn are reached. The path is marked with pink directional signs and snowshoe symbols.

Equipment

We recommend the following equipment: snowshoes, sturdy and waterproof mountain boots, light to medium backpack, cold protection, sun protection, hiking poles, first aid kit, snacks, tea in a thermos bottle, mobile phone.

Directions & Parking facilities

Motorway A6 Bern towards Zweisimmen, turn left 1 km after the Simmenfluss tunnel towards Diemtigtal. Follow the Diemtigtal road uphill for 11 km to the Riedli base station. From here, the chairlift of the Wiriehorn cable cars takes you up to the Nüegg mountain station (observe operating times: www.wiriehorn.ch).
Parking spaces are available at the base station of the Wiriehorn cable car.
Outbound and return trip: By train to Oey-Diemtigen. Then by post bus to Riedli/base station Wiriehorn. Take the chairlift to Nüegg.
