Summer in Thun is at its best: colorful, refreshing and full of new encounters. Whether you’re enjoying a relaxing yoga session by the lake, trying your hand at urban sketching, taking a ride on the legendary Thun Velozügli, or dancing salsa on the Thunerhof terrace—every day here is an adventure.

Treasure hunt at Thun Castle

Bring your ingenuity and instinct as you follow hidden clues and solve some fiendish riddles with your family amid the medieval ambience of Thun Castle. Will you crack the code on the treasure chest?

Urban swimming with the lifeguards

What could be more refreshing than a dip in the cool waters of the Aare? Join a team of certified lifeguards for this special experience and learn how to swim in the Aare more safely.

  • Behind the town hall (Rathaus)

  • Register by 10.00 pm on the previous Monday via www.rescueteam.ch; for good swimmers only, number of participants limited

Tuesday Run 

Explore the town of Thun along the River Aare, following the route of the Thun Town Run without the pressure of competition, together with like-minded people. You can choose between a relaxed 5 km or a slightly longer 10 km route.

Evening art visits

Sundowner on the solar boat

Experience the city of Thun from the water and take a short cruise in the Aare basin.

Baile en la Terraza con Mokkaliente

When the sun goes down, the music starts and the Thunerhof terrace transforms into a dance floor, the atmosphere is pure summer magic: a beautiful setting along the Aare, cool drinks and rousing salsa music right in the heart of Thun. 
Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or a beginner, whether you’re there to watch or join in—come on by and enjoy a cozy summer evening at the Thunerhof with Andi from Salsadancers and the Mokkaliente Crew.

Trampelwurm tour

After shopping, why not have another ride around town aboard the Trampelwurm? During the summer holiday period, Thun’s famous cycle-train makes regular rounds of the town centre. Hop aboard and enjoy the ride – and keep cycling!

Urban Sketching

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist, the focus is on mindful observation, sharing ideas, and the joy of creative work in an urban setting. If you can, bring your own sketching supplies; a basic drawing kit is also available on-site.

City Tour "Hidden treasures"

Immerse yourself in hardly known stories about Thun's old town. On the short tour, you discover unknown and hidden places. Let the city guide amaze you with unexpected and surprising facts.

Enjoy a special experience in the Knights’ Hall At the summer children's movie series “Di Chli Häx,” you and your family can look forward to an entertaining summer treat in a medieval setting. The film is in Swiss German.

Yoga by the lake

Start your Sunday with an enjoyable hour of yoga in Schadau Park. Drink in the breathtaking panorama as you boost your physical health, effectively counterbalancing the everyday routine. Beginners and advanced practitioners welcome.

Ferris wheel on Mühleplatz

Once again throughout summer, the large, colourful Ferris wheel will tower over Mühleplatz. As darkness falls, ride the big wheel to dizzy heights – and be enchanted by the colours and lights of Thun.
