The idea - Path to Hinterburgsee
The avalanche winter 98/99 and storm Lothar caused enormous damage at Hinterburgsee and along the path to Axalp. A wild disorder of fallen trees, branches, and stones. This led us to the idea of carving sculptures from the remaining tree stumps. Quickly, more woodcarvers from the Brienz region became enthusiastic about our project. With much initiative, we got to work. After intensive cleanup and the exhausting upright positioning of the tree stumps, the first shavings flew in summer '99. Over the years, more than 80 figures have been created to date. In 2011, the path was supplemented with an additional, easily walkable trail. Visit our figures in the beautiful nature of the Bernese Oberland. The Carvers' Team.
