Along the 4 km long path of life in Schwanden, 14 wooden carved figures with sensual poems and quotes on the theme of life line the route. The figures were created in collaboration with the School of Wood Sculpture in Brienz.

The circular route offers an impressive view of Lake Brienz. From the Schwanden municipal building, the path of life leads to the viewpoint and barbecue area "Schonegg." From here, you continue walking to the forest pool "Schwanderbedli." Cosy seating areas invite you to relax along the way. The hiking path is marked with 16 signposts, which are identified by carved birds. The path is suitable for an all-terrain stroller (some bumpy climbs).

Starting and ending point of the Schwanden path of life is the entrance vessel with the coat of arms of the municipality of Schwanden and the names of the involved sponsors.

Directions & Parking facilities

Getting there

By car, either from Lucerne via the Brünig Pass or from Bern via the motorway and the A8 road. Take the "Brienz" exit and drive towards the village. There, follow the signs to Schwanden.

Parking

Free car parking is available at Lamm in Schwanden near Gischterhittli (close to the entrance vessel).

Public transportation

From Brienz train station there is a regular bus service to Schwanden (get off at the Unterschwanden stop).
