Spiez Alpine wine culture
Alpine wine culture – vineyards on the Spiezberg
The highest wine-growing regions are located north of the Alps in the Spiez region. Its story is reflected in the approximately 80,000 bottles of wine produced in the region each year. The alpine climate, the unique soil conditions, the proximity to the water: All of this is palpable in your wine glass.
The steep slopes of the southern shore of Lake Thun, the alpine climate, and the reflection of the sun in the water shape every drop the region produces. The Piwi grapes Cabernet Jura and Sauvignac are grown here, for example, directly above Lake Thun. This distinctive local flavor is reflected in the glass. Glass in hand, you can look out over the Niesen, the Niederhorn, and the Sigriswiler Rothorn. Stroll through the vineyards, discover sites on the shores of the lake, or follow the Spiez Vineyard Sensory Adventure Trail.
